Food for Thought
12 The LORD will indeed give what is good,  and our land will yield
its harvest.  Psalm 85:12

So many people around the world (but especially in the USA it seems) don't understand how food affects them or even the nutritional value of foods.  The other misunderstanding is physical health in association with physical problems.
By this I mean not realizing that sometimes a person has a problem because of poor nutrition or bad habits (smoking/etc.) and trying to solve the problem through a Dr. prescribed pill.
(Please notice the BOLD "sometimes" - there are proper times to take Dr. pills, just not at the alarming level that we do today in the USA).

Now we get to the fun part.  I LOVE this stuff!  It is exciting to feel the results of good nutrition in your body.  So, take some time to browse this section and learn how you can help yourself!

We constantly need energy to keep moving and living.  Depending on the types of food we put into our body determines what levels of energy we will have.

VERY IMPORTANT:  You need to understand this.  Every time you eat, your body utilizes that food.  It converts it into energy through glucose metabolism.  Basically, you eat, the pancreas releases insulin which carries the glucose to the cells that need energy.  The cells convert (burn) that into adenosine triphosyphate and ta da, you have energy.
BUT...
when all the cells that needed energy are "full", the  body takes the extra and stores it as "fat", or stored energy.  WE ALL NEED STORED ENERGY.  It is the body's way of being prepared.
HOWEVER...
When we "stuff" ourselves, or continue eating even after our body signals that it is satisfied, it has an excess of stored fat.  We have just put more energy in than our bodies can use and it will just keep storing it as fat.

You probably already knew all that.  Here's what you may not know:
Some people try to solve the problem of "losing weight" by starving themselves, or skipping meals.  Here's what is happening in your body:  the cells do use the reserved fat, BUT the next time you eat (and at this point you feel starved and probably eat more than you need), they replace those reserves again because you have just conditioned it to "think" it may not get another regular supply of energy (food) for awhile.
All you have created is a worse situation.
Instead, you need to eat about 5-6 adequate meals a day.
Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack, and Dinner.
This regulates the flow of energy and your body does not have to store as much!
